Jobbeskrivelse
Senior Project Manager – Clean & Industrial Utilities
Location: Hillerød, Denmark
Department: DPM Expansion – Future QC
Are you ready to take ownership of a critical utilities workstream within one of Novo's largest quality control expansion projects?
Do you bring strong experience in clean or industrial utilities, combined with a practical understanding of commissioning, qualification and project delivery?
Are you motivated by the opportunity to influence a major Greenfield development, work with experienced engineering specialists and take responsibility for delivering complex technical systems?
If you enjoy combining technical knowledge with project leadership, stakeholder collaboration and practical problem solving, this could be an exciting next step in your career.
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager Clean & Industrial Utilities to join our DPM Expansion – Future QC programme in Hillerod, Denmark.
The position
As Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of the commissioning and qualification planning and coordination for clean and industrial utility systems within our new Future QC facility.
The project represents an investment of approximately DKK 3 billion and involves the construction of a 42,000 m² quality control laboratory facility, the largest of its kind within Novo.
Working within a relatively lean and highly collaborative project organisation, you will have significant responsibility and the opportunity to make a direct impact on how critical utility systems are delivered, qualified and handed over to operations.
A central part of your role will be ensuring that commissioning and qualification activities are effectively planned, coordinated and aligned with construction milestones, equipment installation requirements and phased building handovers.
You will work closely with contractors, engineering specialists, validation colleagues, IT, equipment owners and other project stakeholders to manage technical dependencies, identify risks and ensure the successful progression of the utilities workstream.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the planning and coordination of commissioning and qualification activities for clean and industrial utility systems.
- Work closely with the validation team to establish qualification strategies, timelines, vendor documentation requirements and appropriate levels of technical oversight.
- Work closely with the validation team to establish qualification strategies, timelines, vendor documentation requirements and appropriate levels of technical oversight.
- Coordinate with the main contractor, subcontractors and engineering specialists to ensure utility systems are delivered in accordance with project requirements and relevant standards.
- Manage interfaces and dependencies between utility availability, equipment installation, controlled shutdowns and phased building handovers.
- Review commissioning and qualification plans, identify potential technical or operational risks and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
- Engage with equipment owners, IT, engineering and operational stakeholders to understand system requirements and ensure utility availability is aligned with their delivery schedules.
- Provide informed technical recommendations, support decision-making and escalate matters affecting cost, scope or programme timelines through established governance processes.
- Contribute to the successful handover of utility systems to the operational and maintenance organisations.
- Collaborate across the wider project team, supporting other critical workstreams where priorities and project needs require.
- This is a project manager position rather than a detailed engineering design role.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong technical foundation in utility systems, practical experience in regulated operational environments and the ability to manage complex engineering activities.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have developed their careers through technical, maintenance, facilities or operational engineering roles before progressing into project management.
We expect you to have:
- A relevant educational background in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical industry experience.
- Strong technical experience in either clean utilities or industrial utilities, particularly piping related systems such as purified water, clean steam, heating, cooling, water distribution or compressed air.
- Demonstrable experience in equipment or systems commissioning, qualification and/or validation, including a sound understanding of controlled processes, documentation and operational requirements.
- Practical experience working within an operational plant, manufacturing facility or similarly complex technical environment, including exposure to maintenance activities, system start ups, shutdowns or equipment qualification.
- Proven experience coordinating engineering projects, technical workstreams, contractors or specialist service providers.
Experience working within regulated or process driven industries where safety, quality, documentation and controlled operating procedures are essential. - Strong planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and technical dependencies.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology or other GMP regulated environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
- We also welcome relevant experience from industries such as food and beverage, chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, and engineering or EPC organisations, provided you bring the necessary utilities and qualification expertise.
- Experience across both clean and industrial utilities would be beneficial; however, strong expertise in either discipline is sufficient.
- Knowledge of Science and Risk-Based Validation (SRV), commissioning and qualification methodologies, and large-scale CAPEX or Greenfield projects would also be advantageous.
About the department
- You will join the DPM Expansion Future QC programme in Hillerod, where we are delivering a major new quality control laboratory facility to support Novo's expanding manufacturing capabilities.
- The programme involves the development of approximately 42,000 m² of new laboratory and supporting infrastructure, representing a significant investment in the future of our quality control operations.
- The project is currently progressing through construction, with commissioning, qualification and phased handover activities forming critical elements of the delivery programme.
- Our engineering organisation is relatively lean, bringing together specialists across utilities, validation, engineering, technical interfaces and other essential project disciplines.
- This structure provides an opportunity for individuals to take genuine ownership of their responsibilities, work closely with experienced colleagues and influence important technical and operational decisions.
We value collaboration, practical problem solving and the willingness to take responsibility. While you will lead your own workstream, you will also be part of a team that supports one another and responds flexibly as project priorities evolve.
Joining us means contributing to a technically challenging Greenfield project where your experience, judgement and decisions will make a visible difference.
About you
- You are an experienced technical professional who combines a strong understanding of utility systems with the ability to plan, coordinate and deliver complex project activities.
- You understand what it takes to commission, qualify and operate technical systems in real world environments, and you appreciate the importance of controlled procedures, thorough planning and effective communication.
- You are comfortable working with experienced engineering specialists and contractors, asking the right questions, challenging assumptions constructively and bringing stakeholders together to find practical solutions.
- You take ownership of your responsibilities and are confident making recommendations, while recognising when issues require wider discussion or escalation.
- You are also adaptable and pragmatic.
- You understand that priorities can change within major construction programmes and are willing to support colleagues and other workstreams when needed.
- Above all, you enjoy being close to the technical and operational realities of a project and take pride in helping complex systems move successfully from construction through qualification and into operation.
